Trash People x WasteNot | Free Compost Giveaway!

Calling all green thumbed Chicagoans: Come get yer compost! As part of our 2026 Sustainability Partnership with WasteNot Compost, we're thrilled to be hosting a FREE COMPOST DAY at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Stop by any time 10am-1pm to pick up as much compost as you can carry. Compost is free, but donations to support our work are welcome! Bring your own bucket / container! How to find the us: the WasteNot dumpster full of finished compost will be in the Receiving Dock/Employee Parking Lot - this is the northern driveway off Cannon Drive and to the right of the main Nature Museum entrance/the bus drop off area. We'll have signs out so that you can easily find us! What if it rains? This event will be rain or shine! Want to visit the musuem too? Awesome! The Nature Museum will be open from 10am-4pm, and we'll have space for you to leave your compost while you visit! Want to start at-home composting yourself?
