About this event

The event takes place at tables inside a café with League signage, offering a one-page civic map and conversation about the transition between Election Day and new officials taking office.
Full description from organizerShow less
After the election, map who represents you, from City Council to Congress, and how to reach them. Free, informal, nonpartisan. The votes are in, so who actually represents you now? Most of us can name a candidate or two from the ballot. Fewer of us can name everyone who represents our own street: on the City Council, in the state House and Senate, in Congress, and on our Neighborhood Board. Four days after the election, Civic Coffee Hour is a chance to sort it out together. WHAT WE'LL DO • Look up your own districts together. Bring your phone, and we'll help if you don't have one with you • Leave with your own one-page civic map: who represents you at each level, and how to reach them • Talk through what happens between Election Day and the day new officials take office • Share what you'd want to raise with your representatives this year NO EXPERTISE NEEDED There's no lecture and no panel, just a conversation around a table, and every question is a good one. Longtime League members, brand-new members and curious neighbors are all welcome. Bring a friend. NONPARTISAN The League of Women Voters never supports or opposes candidates or political parties. This isn't a conversation about who won or lost. It's about how to reach whoever represents you. FINDING US We'll be at the tables inside the café. Look for the League sign. REGISTRATION IS OPTIONAL Walk-ins are always welcome. Registering just helps us save enough tables. Coffee is on your own; the conversation is free. SOMETHING NEW This is our first Saturday-morning Civic Coffee Hour. Can't make it, or have a time that works better? Tell us in our one-minute poll: https://form.jotform.com/262912893608063
