Tradewinds School Kindergarten Open House

For families of gifted 4- and 5-year-olds: tour our Kaimukī campus, meet our Head of School and see a kindergarten with no speed limit. Are you a parent of a 4- or 5-year-old who already seems to be running ahead of the script? Then you probably want a kindergarten built for that child, not one they'll have to wait out. Kindergarten for Gifted Learners: What It Looks Like at Tradewinds — A conversation with Head of School Carl Sabatino and founder Andy Szybalski. Gifted children often show themselves early. The 4-year-old who taught themself to read. The 5-year-old asking about infinity, or why the rules of a game are unfair, or how the body actually works. These children arrive at kindergarten ready for far more than most kindergartens are built to offer — and the earliest school years are exactly when the habit of loving school, or enduring it, gets set. Bring your keiki — kids are welcome. Join us to explore: • How to recognize giftedness in a young child — and why "she's just ahead" undersells what's happening • What a Tradewinds kindergarten day actually looks like: small groups, intellectual peers, and room to move at your child's real pace • How we handle asynchronous development — a child who reads like a third-grader and still needs help with shoelaces • How kindergarten at Tradewinds sets up many paths through school, all the way to grade 8 • Whether Tradewinds might be the right fit for your family This isn't a sales pitch. It's a conversation for families trying to figure out what their youngest learner actually needs. Tradewinds School is Hawaiʻi's first school designed specifically for gifted learners, serving grades K–6. This event is for prospective families only.
