Magical High Tea: The Art of Divining with Dice

Sip, snack, and cast the dice at our Samhain tea. Witch and wizard hats encouraged, with a prize for the best one! Join us for a mystical tea party where we'll sip, snack, and explore the art of divining with dice as Samhain draws near. Samhain, the ancient Gaelic festival that marks the end of the harvest and the turn toward the dark half of the year, is the original Halloween. Many celebrate it on October 31 into November 1, while others observe the astronomical Samhain, the midpoint between the autumn equinox and the winter solstice, which falls around November 7. Traditionally it is a time when the veil between worlds is said to grow thin, which makes it a fitting moment to ask questions and listen for answers. We'll share savory bites and sweet treats paired with loose-leaf teas, then turn to divination with dice. Casting dice belongs to cleromancy, the old practice of reading meaning in objects that are cast or drawn, and it has been used in many cultures across history. Through simple instruction and playful discovery, you'll learn how to ask a question, cast, and interpret what comes up. Wear your hat! Witch and wizard hats are encouraged, and the guest with the best hat wins 2 free tickets to our next tea in February. All are welcome: come curious, come hungry, come ready to tend the flame of what you're becoming. This is a community offering from the Pacific Spirits chapter of CUUPS (Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans) with a suggested donation of $25.
