Christmas Pavuk Workshop

Learn about a beloved European Solstice tradition that spans multiple cultures, beliefs and centuries. Join us on November 7, 2026 at 10:00 AM or 1:00PM (EST) at the Indianapolis Latvian Community Center to learn how to create a traditional Ukrainian Pavuk Straw Mobile. Learn about the ancient history of this intricate geometric decorative ornament, the meaning behind it, and the similarities and differences between Ukrainian Pavuk, Polish Pajak, Latvian Puzurs, Lithuanian Sodas and Finnish Himmeli! All supplies are included in your ticket - at the end of the 2-hour workshop you will leave with a finished mobile and hanging hardware. We will also provide a recycled box for safe transportation of your mobile. You may also bring your own box as well - best size is one that can fit your head or larger. There will be tea and light refreshments at the end of each session, as well as time to socialize! If you are a Ukrainian Society of Indiana member - please check your email with a member discount! This workshop uses large upholstery needles and scissors, and requires a level of dexterity and fine motor skills.
