Maternal Health Data Regional Summit

Why This Summit The United States faces a maternal health crisis, with more than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths reviewed by Maternal Mortality Review Committees considered preventable. Yet the people and organizations responsible for maternal care often cannot easily exchange the information needed to coordinate services, assess risk, and support patients through pregnancy, delivery, and postpartum care. The Maternal Health Data Regional Summit will bring together participants from Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa to focus on practical maternal health data and care use cases, persistent barriers to information sharing, and opportunities to improve coordination across the region. Rather than discussing interoperability in the abstract, participants will work together around specific points in the perinatal care journey and help shape regional recommendations that can be shared with state and federal leaders. Who Should Attend The Summit is intended for people who influence, provide, support, or experience maternal health care, including Medicaid and maternal health leaders; health care providers and health systems; health plans and payers; health information exchanges and technology partners; midwives, doulas, and community health workers; community-based organizations; researchers and advocates; and patients and others with lived experience. Technical expertise is not required. The Summit needs both systems-level knowledge and the firsthand perspectives of people navigating maternal health care. Regional Summit Agenda 12:15–12:30 p.m. | Transition and Lunch Pick-up 12:30–12:45 p.m. | Welcome + Federal Context 12:45–1:30 p.m. | Lunch + Regional PanelState leaders from Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa will discuss regional maternal health priorities, Health Data Utilities, and opportunities to improve outdated information-sharing practices. 1:30–4:30 p.m. | Maternal Health Use-Case BreakoutsParticipants will work across disciplines around three points in the perinatal episode of care: Pregnancy notification and risk assessment Sharing birth plans, preadmission orders, and antepartum summaries Sharing postpartum discharge and care plans Additional topics may include remote patient monitoring, critical laboratory results, and more timely provider payment. 4:30–5:00 p.m. | Pulling It All Together 5:00–5:10 p.m. | Closing Remarks Participants must depart the Oracle campus by 5:30 p.m. Interested in the technical side of the conversation?
