Owner Sue Hunter, native plant pioneer who founded Heartwood Nursery in 1987, will show how trees respond to changing day length and temperature in ways that are barely perceptible to the naked eye. Learn about seasonal seed dispersal; spring flower buds forming now on dogwoods and other trees; how protective bud scales function; what lenticel patterns on bark mean; and more. What to expect: We'll walk about 1.5 miles, taking our time in the nonworking wooded area of the nursery. We love questions, so bring yours!
