Blues Traveler

Multi-platinum rock band Blues Traveler, the Grammy Award-winning group that defined an era of harmonica-driven, jam-infused rock in the 1990s, is bringing its legendary live show to Durango Casino & Resort for Bel-Aire Backyard's "Poolside Concert Series" on Sunday, Oct. 11. Blues Traveler emerged from Princeton, New Jersey, in 1987 and became one of the defining acts of 1990s alternative rock, blending blues, rock and improvisational jam into a sound that was entirely their own. At the center of that sound is frontman and harmonica virtuoso John Popper, whose rapid-fire playing style and soulful vocals set the band apart.  The band built its reputation on marathon, high-energy live performances and broke into the mainstream with Four — certified six-times platinum by the RIAA — in 1994. Its lead single, “Run-Around,” became one of the defining rock radio hits of the decade and earned the band a GRAMMY Award for “Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.” With 14 studio albums, more than 10 million records sold, and over 2,000 live performances before millions of fans worldwide, Blues Traveler remains one of the most enduring live acts to emerge from the 1990s rock era.
