Writers Inspiring Writers: SNWP Author Series

Author Series brings elementary and middle grade educators together to write, collaborate, and inspire creative student writing. SNWP Writer Inspiring Writers: Author Series Welcomes Children's Author and Illustrator Shanda McCloskey Join us in person or virtually for an inspiring and interactive writing experience with Shanda McCloskey, award-winning children’s author and illustrator. Participants will have the opportunity to write and illustrate alongside Shanda while exploring the creative process behind bringing stories to life. Designed for elementary and middle school educators, this professional learning experience invites participants to imagine, write, illustrate, and innovate alongside Shanda, Southern Nevada Writing Project directors, and teacher-consultants. Through hands-on writing activities, participants will explore how writing thrives in community, discover ways to use mentor texts to elevate student writing, and collaborate with fellow educators to strengthen writing instruction and align it with standards. Young and aspiring writers in grades 2–12 are also welcome to participate. Dinner will be provided! Credit Information for CCSD Educators: • Earn 1 Continuing Unit (CU) for attending • Earn 2 additional CUs by engaging in 6 hours of follow-up response work Come ready to write, illustrate and collaborate!
