Acting for Improv: One-Day Workshop

In this one-day workshop, students will learn to react truthfully, create believable characters, and build genuine connections with their scene partners. The class begins with straightforward dramatic scene work designed to remove the pressure to chase punchlines or “be funny.” By focusing on listening, emotional honesty, and grounded choices, students will develop the skills to stay fully present in a scene. The workshop then brings those techniques back into improv comedy, helping performers maintain a sense of reality even when the characters and circumstances become completely absurd. This class is ideal for improvisers who want to create richer scenes, actors looking to strengthen their improvisational skills, and performers who want to become more confident and instinctive onstage. About the Instructor Daniel Weiss is an actor, acting coach, and improviser with more than 20 years of experience.
