Professors, experts, and storytellers giving thought-provoking lectures in LA bars. 📍 Location: Exact address given in confirmation email 🧠 Lecture: "Can Trauma Be Inherited? How Experience Shapes Biology" 🎙️ Speaker: Dr. Bonnie Goff We tend to think of trauma as something that happens to an individual. But what if the effects of adversity can extend beyond one lifetime? Join us for an evening with Dr. Bonnie Goff as we explore the emerging science of epigenetics and how life experiences can become biologically embedded, with effects that may reverberate across generations. Together, we’ll look at what research can—and cannot—tell us about intergenerational trauma. Just as importantly, we’ll discuss why epigenetics is not destiny, and what this science can teach us about resilience, intergenerational healing, and the lasting impact of the environments we create. Dr. Bonnie Goff is a developmental psychologist and Continuing Lecturer in UCLA’s Department of Psychology, where she teaches developmental neuroscience, human development, and the effects of early adversity and trauma. A recipient of UCLA’s Distinguished Teaching Award and the Marty Sklar Last Lecture Award, she is passionate about making developmental science accessible and using it to help us think more deeply about resilience, human dignity, and the conditions that allow people to thrive.
