SIGHT + SOUND + SOUL VOL. 1 | Multimedia Performance, Reception, + Open Mic

An experimental evening of live poetry, music, and visuals, bringing poets, a DJ, and a VJ together in spontaneous creative collaboration. SIGHT + SOUND + SOUL Three poets. One DJ. One VJ. No script for what happens next. An improvisational jazz style performance of poetry and live-mixed/manipulated music and video Moving Image Arts presents SIGHT + SOUND + SOUL: Vol. 1, a live multimedia experiment where spoken word, sound, and visuals collide, converse, and transform in real time. Three poets, a DJ, and a VJ take the stage together, riffing off one another in a free-flowing exchange of language, rhythm, and imagery. The spontaneity of performance and the possibilities of contemporary visual technology, the artists create an experience that's part poetry reading, part audiovisual performance, and entirely unpredictable. No two moments will unfold quite the same way. That's the point. The evening also features an open mic, inviting audience members to step into the creative exchange, followed by a closing DJ/VJ set that carries the energy into the night. PRE-SHOW RECEPTION The evening begins at 7:00 PM with a pre-show reception featuring beer + wine bar (purchase proceeds benefit the org + artists), conversation, and a video and music installation. The reception is followed by our main event, a collaborative multimedia performance between our featured poets, DJ, and VJ, then open mic poetry, and a live DJ + VJ set will close out the evening. Come early to mingle before the main performance begins at 8:00 PM. Info to sign up for the open mic to come.
