Fall Migration at Lake Kegonsa State Park

Join FBC-Madison as we search for fall warblers and other migratory birds at Lake Kegonsa State Park! No birding experience necessary. Welcome to the Madison chapter of the Feminist Bird Club! We are a bird club dedicated to promoting diversity in birding and providing a safe opportunity to connect with the natural world while fundraising to protect the rights of LGBTQIA+ folks, women, and people of color. Join us on Sunday, September 20th from 9am-11am as we search for fall warblers and other fall migratory birds at Lake Kegonsa State Park. This park is a wonderful stopover spot for migratory birds and a great place to search for warblers. We'll explore the trails, scan the lake, and see what fall warblers we can identify together! Lake Kegonsa State Park is a state park which has an entry fee of $8 if you do not have an admission sticker on your vehicle. Our events are family friendly and open to all who respect our mission. Whether you’re brand new to birding or have been birding for decades, we’d love to welcome you to our community. __________________ Please RSVP so we can make sure our trip leaders can accommodate everyone. Once everyone arrives, we’ll break into two groups. Directions and Parking: We’ll meet at the beach parking lot, which is a large paved parking lot with accessible parking spaces. Click here for a pin with directions. Accessibility information: We will be walking on a mix of flat and rolling terrain with primarily grass and dirt trails. We expect to walk 1.5 to 2 miles during this event. There are flush toilets at the restroom and bathhouse by the beach, which are wheelchair accessible. This location could potentially accommdate an outdoor wheelchair. Please contact us if you have questions about how this event can meet your accessiblity needs. Binoculars are available to borrow. You will have the option to indicate if you need a pair before you checkout.
