Forest Products Week Tour: Forest Products Lab

Tour the Forest Products Laboratory, the only national research laboratory operating under the U.S. Forest Service! This tour will take place twice: Wednesday, October 21 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, and on Thursday, October 22 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Tickets will become available for both time slots on Monday, September 14. Attendees must register for only one tour; duplicate registrations will be canceled. About the tour: Take a peek inside the nation's only federal forest products laboratory! The Forest Products Laboratory is a national research laboratory operating under the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service. The Lab is responsible for scientific research on wood and developing innovative wood products. The Forest Products Laboratory collaborates in partnership with academia, private companies, industry, and governmental agencies. As a world-class wood utilization research laboratory and wood research institute, the Forest Products Laboratory has been contributing to and developing innovative ways to utilize the nation’s forest resources since 1910. Overall, the driving objective of the Forest Products Laboratory is to promote the nation’s economy, healthy forests, and quality of life through wood and fiber utilization research. Tours include the following stops: Center for Wood Anatomy Research, the Lab Library, Wood and Metal Shops, Fire Sciences, CARWASh, Advanced Composites, Engineering Mechanics and Remote Sensing, and Wood Durability and Protection. Important to know: This tour requires walking and standing for periods of time; accommodations can be made if necessary. The minimum age to attend is 6 years old.
