October Big Day at Donald County Park

Join us on October Big Day for an autumn birding outing to Donald County Park! Everyone is welcome, no birding experience necessary. Welcome to the Madison chapter of the Feminist Bird Club! We are a bird club dedicated to promoting diversity in birding and providing a safe opportunity to connect with the natural world while fundraising to protect the rights of LGBTQIA+ folks, women, and people of color. Join us on Saturday, October 10th from 9am-12pm as we search for sparrows, songbirds, and other fall migrants at Donald County Park, one of the largest county parks in Dane County! We're holding this event as part of eBird's October Big Day. Come with your eBird-related questions as we'll be making time to chat about eBird basics and share some tips and tricks! Note: Please be aware we have extended the time of this outing to three hours instead of our usual two. We may not need the full three hours, but we want to make sure we have plenty of time to cover our desired route. Be aware this outing's route is bit longer than our usual outings and may not be suitable for those who have difficulties with longer distances. _____ Everyone is welcome at our events, no birding experience required! Our events are family friendly and open to all who respect our mission. Whether you’re brand new to birding or have been birding for decades, we’d love to welcome you to our community. Please RSVP so we can make sure our trip leaders can accommodate everyone. Once everyone arrives, we’ll break into small groups. Directions and Parking: We'll meet at the Pop's Knoll parking area. You'll drive up a short gravel road to a gravel parking area. Click here for a Google Maps pin. Accessibility information: We will be walking on packed dirt and grass trails on rolling, varied terrain. The terrain may be uneven in a few places with a few steep inclines. We expect to walk 2-2.5 miles during this event. There are restrooms (pit toilets) near the parking lot. Please contact us if you have questions about whether or not this event can accommodate your accessibility needs. Binoculars are available to borrow. You will have the option to indicate if you need a pair before you checkout.
