Full description from organizer

with Khenpo Kunga Year-End Retreat: Dzogchen Trekchö Teachings with Khenpo Kunga December 30, 2026 – January 3, 2027 402 East Mifflin Street, Madison, Wisconsin The New Year is an opportunity to reflect on the past and to contemplate what’s ahead. These New Years retreats are an opportunity to reflect, restore and recharge. This year’s New Years retreat is a rare opportunity to receive experiential instruction in the Dzogchen trekchö teachings at the heart of Mingyur Rinpoche's personal terma lineage, as guided by Tergar lama Khenpo Kunga. Dzogchen Trekchö: Cutting Through to Pure Awareness At the heart of the retreat are direct experiential instructions on trekchö — commonly translated as "cutting through" or "breakthrough" — drawn from Mingyur Rinpoche's personal terma lineage centered around Dorje Drolö. Khenpo Kunga's teachings will draw on a key instruction manual from within this lineage, offering a concentrated immersion in the direct introduction to pure nondual awareness. This is a part of our ongoing year-long transmission, and will complement the material covered in Vajrayana Online. Who is this retreat for? This retreat is open to practitioners who meet the Tergar criteria for entering the Path of Liberation. Eligibility requires one of the following: • Completion of all three levels of the Joy of Living program — Calming the Mind (Level 1), Opening the Heart (Level 2), and Awakening Wisdom (Level 3) — along with their associated practice requirements • Completion of the full preliminary practices (the 4 x 100,000 ngöndro) • A sustained daily meditation practice of at least five years, combined with a minimum of thirty days of group or solitary retreat practice at 6+ hours of formal practice per day, under the guidance of a Buddhist teacher If you're unsure whether you meet the eligibility criteria, please reach out before registering. We're happy to help you discern where you are on the path. Tergar Madison is part of the global Tergar community founded by Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche.
