From Tree to Table- Foraging Feast

Learn wild edible and local plants. Gather, prepare, cook, and eat a delicious wild meal! Owl Eyes Wilderness Survival invites you to this NEW offering for 2027! From Tree to Table is a one of a kind foraging class in which students will learn the identification process of wild edible, medicinal, and useful plants. Students will then spend time gathering and preparing these plants into a delicious wild meal. A chance to sample wild meats may be available as well, depending on group interest and time. Join like minded individuals in this class, enjoy a warm campfire, and cook up a wonderful wild meal! SKILLS COVERED: • Wild Plant Identification • Ethical Foraging Guidlines • Safety Standards for Identifying Plants • Plant Processing and Cooking • Various Ways to Prepare Wild Foods REQUIRED MATERIALS • Plate, spoon, fork, bowl, and mug. • Notebook and Pen. • Small Basket or Clean Bandana. • Clothes that you do not mind getting dirty. (dressed for weather and bugs). Although the season and weather affect plant growth times, it is likely that class will have the chance to forage stinging nettles, sunchokes, mint family species, pine, japanese knotweed, grape leaves, milkweed, and more (subject to change, but that is only a few species we will have the chance to discover). This class is geared for adults, however mature minors are welcome to join. We do not set an age minimum but rather set a maturity standard. It is up to the parents to decide if they feel their child or teen is mature enough for a 7 hour survival class. All students are expected to maintain a level of respect for all students and carry themselves as individuals. If you feel your child will be interruptive to the flow of class, or hinder your independent learning, this class will not be for them and we encourage you to look at our children's survival classes, which are specifically structured for kids. Students below the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The ticket price covers the cost of 1 student, regardless of age. Class will run rain or shine.
