About the Book Sometimes the door we fear most is the one that leads us home. When the house grows quiet and the crumbs go untouched, something isn't right. Oscar, a loyal fourteen-year-old pug with gray whiskers and a slowing body, has spent his life loving his family the only way he knows how-morning patrols for scraps, hard-won leaps onto the couch, and long days waiting for everyone to come home. But today feels different. The basement door-always closed, always mysterious-stands open. Drawn by a strange knock and an old spark of curiosity, Oscar ventures downstairs and discovers a world glowing with color, memory, and familiar faces from his past. Guided by a once-neighboring cat and reunited with beloved friends, he begins a journey through the moments that shaped his life-birthday parties, storms, snuggles, and unconditional love. As pain fades and youth returns, Oscar must face a tender truth: this isn't an ending, but a passage. And beyond one more door waits the next adventure. You can purchase a copy of Oscar on The Bookery website or in-store at the event!
