The Golden Hour

Join the Golden Thread Doulas and guest co-host Gennisi Midwives as they share their wisdom about the important topic of ‘The Golden Hour’! All parents know that they want the first ‘golden’ hour after their baby is born to be special, but are often unsure exactly what happens during this time, or what their options are. Protecting this precious first hour supports family bonding, the breastfeeding relationship, initiation of newborn systems, and the mother’s physical and mental well being. Together we will explore: • Post-birth hormones • Baby’s transition earthside • Skin-to-skin • Hat or no hat? • Placenta and cord management • Postpartum bleeding management • Initiating breastfeeding • What if you’re separated from baby? • A ‘Golden Hour’ plan of your own to take home Enjoy refreshments, connect with other parents, and come with questions! We can’t wait to see you there.
