Joe Davis' 40th birthday bash with live music, film screening, soul food, and afrofuture funk. 40 AF: An Afrofuturistic Birthday Celebration Celebrate artist Joe Davis' 40th birthday groovin’ at the edges of freedom with live music, including a jam session with Brass Solidarity and his soul funk band, The Poetic Diaspora. At the center of the night is the world premiere of a film from ANCESTORS RISING, an afrofuturistic exploration of time-travel, ancestral wisdom, and BlackLiberation. This is the first in the series ever screened publicly! Come hungry for soul food catered by Klassics Kitchen, bring your peoples, and rock your flyest future fit for the afrofuturistic costume contest. This is an unapologetically Black-centered space. • 6 p.m. — Doors open, social hour with food and live music • 7–9 p.m. — ANCESTORS RISING debut film screening • 9–10 p.m. — More live music and performances $15 in advance • $20 at the door • Limited space—get your tickets now!
