ABOUT THIS SHOW Alla Boara seeks to bring recognition and new life to Italy’s diverse regional folk music. With modern arrangements that are surprising, playful, and tender, Alla Boara’s songs move audiences from all backgrounds to treasure their musical roots. If you’re a fan of global music, this dynamic group’s a must see! Alla Boara celebrates the deep history of human music-making by cultivating fresh sounds from the ancient roots of regional Italian folk songs. The band's captivating delivery is propelled by drummer Anthony Taddeo’s dynamic compositions, "breathing new possibilities into timeless stories while weaving in limitless and unexpected musical flavors” (Becca Stevens, GRAMMY-nominated singer/songwriter). The songs, near extinct in the wild, are presented here with a modern-jazz sensibility. The ensemble’s debut recording “Le Tre Sorelle” was praised by Cleveland Magazine for its “top-notch musicianship.” The band has received critical acclaim from NPR’s “Shuffle”, SWR2 in Germany, All About Jazz, Jazz Weekly, and Cleveland Magazine. From the specific dialects, stories, and songs of Italy’s pre-industrial past spring Alla Boara’s universally touching performances which inspire listeners of any heritage to treasure their ancestral roots and to revel in our shared humanity - as surprising, playful, mournful, and tender as the songs themselves.
