The Four Freshmen: Bob Ferreira, Tommy Boynton, Jake Baldwin, Chris Peters Few vocal groups in history have earned — or deserved — the reverence commanded by The Four Freshmen. What began in 1948 as four wide-eyed college students with nothing but talent and tenacity became one of the most transformative forces in American music. Their recordings of “Graduation Day,” “Poinciana,” “Day by Day” and “It’s a Blue World” didn’t just captivate audiences — they redefined what the human voice could do in harmony. Jazz titan Stan Kenton heard something extraordinary in their sound and championed their early career, helping introduce them to a world that would never be the same. The ripples spread far and wide: Manhattan Transfer, Take 6, and the Beach Boys have all named The Four Freshmen as a defining influence — proof that truly great harmony doesn’t just move people, it shapes them.Seventy-eight years later, that harmony hasn’t dimmed. It burns brighter than ever. Many consider them the greatest jazz vocal group of all time. One listen, and you’ll understand why. "Ultra Talented" - Wall Street Journal www.fourfreshmen.com
