Full description from organizer

Four Minnesota creators share how they tell local stories, find their voices, and build community on social media. What turns a local story into content that connects? From everyday Midwest life and essential Minnesota political information to community humor and life up north, four Minnesota creators share how they’ve found their distinct voices and built community through social media. Join SMBMSP’s Mykl Roventine for a candid conversation about the work, choices, and experiences behind their posts. We’ll explore how they find ideas, approach storytelling, navigate audience expectations, and balance sharing their lives with protecting their boundaries. We’ll also discuss what brands and organizations should understand about working with creators. Whether you create content yourself, manage social media for an organization, or want a peek behind the posts, you’ll leave with fresh perspectives and practical ideas for your own work. You’ll learn: • How creators turn everyday observations and local interests into engaging stories. • What they’ve learned about building community and handling feedback. • How they decide which trends, opportunities, and partnerships fit their voice. • What social media professionals can apply to their own content and creator collaborations. The Panel Emmaline Childs (@emmalinechilds) is a Minnesota based content creator and co-hosts the Being Minnesotan podcast. With a passion for storytelling, connection, and community, she brings together her experience in corporate culture with her work as a digital creator, where she shares content centered on everyday life in the Midwest, parenting, community, and travel. Bryan Clapper (@BryaninMSP) uses social media to spotlight Minnesota communities in a humorous fashion, and his Instagram reels and TikTok videos have been viewed more than 35 million times. He also co-hosts the Being Minnesotan podcast and owns a boutique real estate brokerage in the Twin Cities. @dogdaysofminnesota is a mom, wife, former campaign staffer and political junkie living in exurban Minnesota. She uses social media to shine a spotlight on Minnesota politics, including down ballot and nonpartisan elections. In her spare time, she is a voracious readers, enjoys caring for her dogs, cats, chickens & fish, and has been fostering dogs for a local rescue for over a decade. Chuck Olsen (@chuckumentary) is a visual storyteller who dwells on the edge of Superior National Forest with his wife and cat. He works as a multimedia producer for WTIP (North Shore Community Radio) where he’s picked up a couple of journalism awards and posts fun stuff on social media. Before moving up north, he co-founded a VR company (Visual), a digital video agency (Vidtiger), and a journalism non-profit (The UpTake). He was a longtime senior web producer at Twin Cities PBS. He was also the first person to swear on YouTube, and regrets degrading our civic dialogue in this way.
