This is a seated show, only 60 tix available! 7:30pm, $25 ea Molly Thomas & The Rare Birds have spent 14 years creating a sound rooted in the Gulf South, blending Americana, rock, folk and Southern soul with Thomas’ distinctive songwriting, strings and self-described “Indie Swamp Pop.” The Rare Birds bring decades of collective experience to the band. Guitarist Rick Hirsch, a founding member of Wet Willie, has worked with Gregg Allman and Cher and written songs recorded by Bonnie Raitt, Tina Turner, Cher and Alabama. Berklee-trained drummer John Milham received the 2019 Mississippi Institute of Arts & Letters Award for Contemporary Music for his album Ardens Garden and has performed with artists including Bo Diddley, George Porter Jr. and Kermit Ruffins. Bassist and vocalist John Keuler brings decades of experience, melodic musicianship and rich harmonies that have become an integral part of the Rare Birds’ sound. Fourteen years in, Molly Thomas & The Rare Birds are a musical family whose history together can be heard in every performance—soulful, seasoned and unmistakably Southern.
