Remembering Forward: Practices of Ancestry, Memory, and Resistance

Join us in person to explore how ancestry, memory, and resistance shape our future together! Who are the people, places, stories, and traditions that have formed us? Join QC Family Tree and Beloved Community Charlotte for Remembering Forward, an afternoon of reflection, connection, and shared practice centered on ancestry, memory, and resistance. Together, we’ll explore how people across cultures honor their lineages, remember those who have passed, and carry the wisdom of those who came before us into the future. Drawing from the End Political Violence curriculum, we’ll consider how remembering can become a practice of connection, gratitude, resistance, and transformation. Featured Artists: Dawn Anthony, Nasif Majeed, Courtney Rohan, and Jasiatic Usher This gathering invites us to: • Give gratitude for the people who formed us. • Honor our ancestors and those whose lives continue to shape our own. • Learn across cultures about practices of remembrance, lineage, and reverence. • Connect across difference through story, reflection, and shared experience. • Be inspired by people who reveal, redeem, reframe, redirect, and resist. • Imagine how memory can help us build a more connected and just future. Whether you come with a deep knowledge of your family history or simply a curiosity about the people and stories that have shaped you, you are welcome. We remember not only to look backward, but to carry something forward.
