Full description from organizer

Join us Saturday, December 19th as vocalist Gary Brumburgh and trumpeter Casey Brefka present Let's Get Lost, a tribute to Chet Baker. Let's Get Lost: A Tribute to Chet Baker, with Gary Brumburgh & Casey Brefka Saturday, December 19, 2026, 7:30 PM Nashville Jazz Workshop Vocalist Gary Brumburgh and trumpeter Casey Brefka bring the trumpet and voice of Chet Baker to the Jazz Cave, four days ahead of what would have been Baker's birthday. The program follows the two sides Baker was known for, the spare, unhurried trumpet lines and the unguarded singing, through the ballads and standards that made his name. They're joined by Stephan Oberhoff on keys, Santino Tafarella on bass, and Justin Vorp on drums, and take the show to Los Angeles in January. About the performers: Brumburgh was based in Los Angeles until moving to Nashville in 2018. His first jazz album, Up Jumped Spring, came out in 2007, followed by Moonlight (2017), which featured the only father-and-son pairing of pianists Terry and Jamieson Trotter and spent eighteen weeks on the JazzWeek chart. A three-time cancer survivor, he produced two Jazz vs. Cancer fundraisers at Los Angeles's Catalina Jazz Club featuring Tierney Sutton and Cheryl Bentyne, and brought the Beatlejazz shows, a jazz treatment of early Beatles material, to the stage in two parts. His most recent album is Full Circle. His collaborations with Stephan Oberhoff produced two singles, covers of Strayhorn's "Lush Life" and Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven," and his tracks have had rotation airplay on Nashville's WFSK. Brefka, originally from Ohio and now based in Nashville, is a contemporary jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger, and teacher. He currently plays trumpet for the Chris Weaver Band, Crash Course VGM Fusion Band, and The Accords, and is musical director and frontman for the eighteen-piece Music City Big Band. He writes arrangements for Vinnie and the Hitmen and has appeared in Postmodern Jukebox videos. He once played with the Artie Shaw Orchestra and spent a year on the Berklee College of Music faculty, and has performed with McCoy Tyner, Maria Schneider, Phil Wilson, Greg Hopkins, Omar Thomas, and Dynamo, among others. Oberhoff, a recent addition to the Nashville scene, is a pianist, guitarist, vocalist, and studio technician who toured as music director for Melissa Manchester and Brenda Russell. He's currently finishing Russell's new record, Songpainter, at his studio, Creation Station East, in nearby Fairview, and has performed, produced, or collaborated with Quincy Jones, Burt Bacharach, Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, and Patti Austin, among others. He produced, arranged, engineered, and played on Jason Gould's album Dangerous Man, and is a member of the Brazilian ensemble Nashville Samba Society and keyboardist for the fourteen-piece Vinnie and the Hitmen. Tafarella is a Nashville-based upright and electric bassist with more than twenty years across jazz, roots, pop, and chart-driven ensemble work. A graduate of the USC Thornton School of Music, his credits include Michael McDonald, the Bob Mintzer Big Band, Bruce Forman, and Cow Bop, and he's played the Kennedy Center, the Monterey Jazz Festival, and Catalina Jazz Club. Vorp is a teacher and multi-instrumentalist on djembe, drums, mallets, and conga, specializing in Latin, Brazilian, and Cuban percussion across jazz, pop, rock, blues, folk, country, R&B, gospel, and opera. A magna cum laude graduate of Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where he won the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award in 2014, he performs with various Latin jazz combos and is a member of Bertha: Grateful Drag, a Grateful Dead tribute act.
