Brazilians will go to the polls on October 4, and the outcome could shape the country's climate and environmental policies for years to come—with far-reaching consequences for the Amazon and other threatened ecosystems, for Indigenous peoples and traditional communities, and for the global effort to confront climate change. The vote comes in the final months of Brazil's COP presidency, less than a year after it hosted COP30 in Belém.
