Professors, experts, and storytellers giving thought-provoking lectures in NYC bars. 📍 Location: Exact address given in confirmation email 🧠 Lecture: "Hunting for Earth 2.0" 🎙️ Speaker: Dr. Niall Whiteford Join us for a mind-expanding evening as astrophysicist Dr. Niall Whiteford takes us on a journey across the galaxy in search of Earth 2.0. Over the past 30 years, astronomers have discovered more than 6,000 extrasolar planets—worlds orbiting distant stars. But have we truly found another Earth yet? In this talk, Dr. Whiteford will explore how planets are detected, what these discoveries reveal about the incredible diversity of worlds in our galaxy, and why we’ve only begun to understand the full range of planetary systems out there. You’ll hear how cutting-edge observations, including new data from the James Webb Space Telescope, are transforming our understanding of alien weather, atmospheres, and the ongoing search for life beyond our solar system. Dr. Niall Whiteford completed his PhD in astrophysics at the University of Edinburgh before joining the American Museum of Natural History. He is passionate about sharing the excitement of exoplanet science and the quest to find life in the universe.
