Living Moment by Moment: A Meisner based acting workshop

🎭 SYNOPSIS This workshop is for those who often find themselves getting in their heads. With this work, we aim to have the singer/actor to be free and present in themselves while performing and living moment by moment on stage. Using basic Meisner principles, in this workshop we'll develop/refine our ability with present moment awareness and emotional preparation to use in our performances. This work aims to lead the singer/actor to a more embodied, freeing and integrated performance overall, while making them shine in their own work. Participants have the option to play with a song/monologue of their choice, whether for their book, audition, or performances. This lab can be used to workshop new songs or monologues. 🎭 COST $30.00 per person Venmo payment to: @Jon-Mykul-Bowen 🎭 CLASS STRUCTURE: 2-4PM First 60 minutes: Introduction to the tools of the technique Last 60 Minutes: Coaching using the tools given 🎭 INTENDED STUDENTS Beginners in singing/acting are welcome. This course is ideal for: singers who want to embody their songs and explore acting through song actors who wish to find a way to make monologues less awkward any performer wanting to explore either and feels stuck getting started. 🎭 REPARATION One song (2 minutes or less with a backing track) OR 1 monologue (1 minute to 1:30 minutes in length). Must be memorized. Can be any style or genre. 🎭 ARTIST Jon-Mykul Bowen (he/him) is an award-winning actor, theater deviser, and performer from St. James, Barbados. He gives credit to Operation Triple Threat in Barbados and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts for his training. He loves to wear many creative hats, being a producer for the Humanist Project's first theater season, and has received a level 2 teacher trainee certification with Meisner in Music. He is also an audition reader, with over 450 positive reviews working with actors auditioning for Broadway to major film and tv work.
