How does Moonlight (of the moon themself, and the film) inform your perception of gender identity and sexuality? The stunning, gut-wrenching A24 ode to the soft & ruggedness of Black gender and homosexuality was released 10 years ago! In celebration of Moonlight’s formative impact for many of us, we’ll come together to unpack the ways that this film has shaped our understandings of gender and sexuality, ourselves, how we connect to each other, and our heart strings. ✨🌕🪉🫀🌊👨🏽‍❤️‍👨🏾🪩✨ We’ll begin our time together at a park nearby the studio with sounds by dj adansoniadigitata throughout our tea ceremony, then get into full moon writing prompts and somatic movement. Then we’ll transition into the studio nearby (7 min walk) and continue the evening with a screening of the film, followed by an opportunity to ask and move through embodied questions to digest the film, exploring intersectional gender(ed) performance. We’ll be pausing to sit with and sip herbal relatives throughout the screening.
