Silvia Federici: Roundtable (pt.2) on Care Workers Against 24-hr Workdays

RSVP required due to limited seats (RSVPs from other platforms like Google Form and Eventbrite will also be accepted) The Peter Kwong Immigrant Workers Learning Center is hosting a series of roundtable discussions with home care workers and other careworkers who have participated in recent hunger strikes at City Hall, who will be joined by Silvia Federici, feminist author and activist. Federici has been involved with the Wages for Housework Campaign, the International Feminist Collective, and the Committee for Academic Freedom in Africa. Her influential book, Caliban and the Witch: Women, the Body and Primitive Accumulation, traces the historical origins of the degradation and devaluation of care work under capitalism. Together, we will discuss why care work has historically been devalued in our society; how the No More 24 movement to end the 24-hour workday is an essential struggle for the liberation of women and working people; and what we can all do to join and support this movement.
