Son Jarocho Fandango: Performance & Book Launch with Sinuhé Padilla Isunza

NYC's Son Jarocho community premieres its first book with a live recital by Jarana Beat and Soneros de City Lore, then a fandango! For all! Son jarocho, the Afro-Indigenous and Spanish-rooted music of southern Veracruz, Mexico, has traveled with communities across the United States for nearly a century, and for more than 20 years it has thrived in New York. At the heart of that story is Comunidad Fandanguera Soneros de City Lore, which has kept the tradition alive for over a decade from its home at City Lore on the Lower East Side.Join the community for the premiere of its first book, Versería colectiva para sones jarochos desde Nueva York, presented as a son jarocho recital by professional musicians from Jarana Beat, Soneros de City Lore and members of New York's jaranero community. The evening closes with a traditional fandango: bring your voice, your jarana or just your feet!
