New York Adventure Club | www.AdventureClub.com Hidden among the flower-filled storefronts of Manhattan's West 20s is the surviving heart of an industry that once transformed New York into one of America's great centers of floriculture. How did a collection of growers, wholesalers, florists, immigrants, and entrepreneurs turn a few city blocks into a floral powerhouse? It's time for an insider look at the remarkable past and evolving future of New York City's historic Floral District. Join New York Adventure Club for a behind-the-scenes look inside Manhattan's historic Floral District, exploring the family businesses, private floral studios, and horticultural innovations that have shaped its enduring legacy since the late 19th century. Led by James François-Pijuan — a longtime floral designer, author of The New York Historic Floral District, and Chairman of the NYC Historic Floral District Museum — our unique experience limited to only 6 guests will include: • A walk through the historic heart of the Floral District to discover how the flower trade became concentrated around West 28th Street • A discussion around the growers, florists, and entrepreneurs who built New York's flower industry, from pioneering rose and orchid specialists to the immigrant horticulturalists whose local farms and greenhouses supplied Manhattan with fresh blooms • The stories of influential figures from the district's past, including celebrated florists, groundbreaking designers, and often-unsung workers who helped make New York's floral trade a nationally renowned industry • Visits to several of today's flower and plant businesses for an insider's perspective on how the district operates today and how its traditions have survived amid decades of dramatic neighborhood change • Exclusive access inside hidden floral studios where creativity and craftsmanship continue to define the neighborhood above street level *Please wear a comfortable pair of shoes as we’ll be on our feet for the entire tour **Our experience will conclude on 28th Street near 7th Avenue About James James François-Pijuan is a United Nations floral designer, author of The New York Historic Floral District, and ambassador for the district’s businesses.
