The Unexpected Therapy Experience

🍁You're invited to an intimate evening of somatic exploration in a cozy Brooklyn apartmentWhen was the last time you sat with someone's feelings and let them actually move you? No talking around them, or fixing them, but staying right there with them. Being in your body and holding space for their body just does what it needs to do: feel. In modern, fast-paced life, most people only receive this level of support inside a therapy room. That's actually how we met (ha): Kate was freshly back in NY and looking for therapy that focused on the body, not words and stories, which is how she was introduced to Dario, an Argentinian somatic practitioner. We met and have worked together in private somatic therapy sessions which were quite profound. Yet because what happens inside a session is so difficult to describe, our mutual curiosity led us to create this shared experiment: a rare opportunity to witness and participate in what happens inside a therapy room. So on September 24th we're opening the doors to something we've been putting together: The Unexpected Therapy Experience. At the center of the evening there is a real session. We'll be moving through Kate's emotional landscape, with Dario guiding, and you'll be invited into the room, to both witness and feel your own sensations. Watching one person hold another in their emotions is usually something you only see in practitioner trainings. But we are curious to take this out of a clinical box...and move beyond the walls of therapy. We're also curious what the room itself does. What happens to an emotional field when other people are present and paying real attention? Join us to explore how we can each support our communities in ways that foster resilience and more capacity for life. What to expect: An intimate room, capped at 25 An open therapy demonstration session (not personal therapy for you ha!) Nobody will be put on the spot to share. However if you're in the middle of something acute right now, this probably isn't the right room Space for questions and a debrief afterwards Tea, food, and time to hang around What happens here stays here. The evening: Doors open 7:00 PM Doors close 7:30 PM sharp We wrap around 9:00 PM Stay for tea & food (optional) We're offering this event on a by donation basis, because we're so stoked to have your presence. We're aiming at $25 / person to cover costs and put some food and drinks out for everyone.
