TMF'S Cultural Arts Series: The New Jersey Symphony Returns!

Celebrate the return of the New Jersey Symphony with an evening of chamber music featuring Haydn, Beach, Beethoven & Mendelssohn. Welcome to The Cultural Arts Series at Van Vleck House & Gardens! The 2026–27 Cultural Arts Series expands our programming with an exciting mix of thought-provoking talks, live performances, film, and music spanning a range of genres and perspectives. At the heart of the series is a continued commitment to celebrating extraordinary hometown talent, bringing accomplished Montclair artists, writers, performers, and cultural voices together with exceptional guests from beyond our community. About the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra Tonight’s featured performers hail from the distinguished New Jersey Symphony (NJS), which has been enriching communities through music since 1922. The NJS gave its very first concert right here in Montclair and has since evolved into a nationally recognized orchestra known for its artistic excellence and deep community engagement. New Jersey Symphony Chamber Players: String Quartet This evening’s chamber music program showcases four of the Symphony’s most distinguished musicians: Ming Yang, violin Youngsun Kim, violin David Blinn, viola Philo Lee, cello Program: String Quartet in G Major, Op. 76, No. 1 by Joseph Haydn Allegro con spirito Adagio sostenuto Menuetto: Presto Finale: Allegro ma non troppo String Quartet, Op. 89 by Amy Beach Intermission/Reception (15 minutes) String Quartet in C Minor, Op. 18 No. 4 by Ludwig van Beethoven Allegro ma non tanto Andante scherzoso quasi allegretto Menuetto: Allegretto Allegro String Quartet No. 6 in F minor, Op. 80 by Felix Mendelssohn Finale: Allegro molto Parking Information Parking is available in our Van Vleck Street and North Mountain Avenue Parking Lots. Please do not park on Van Vleck Street. • The parking lots are one-way only: follow signage for the entrance and exit. • The entrance gate for Van Vleck Street is located on Van Vleck Street, closer to North Mountain Avenue than the main entrance to the house. • Slowly approach the gates to activate the sensors—no pass is required. • Additional parking is permitted along North Mountain Avenue. • Please note: Parking is not allowed on Van Vleck Street at any time.
