Join curators Lauren Brincat and Steven Baltsas for an in-depth look at Preservation Long Island’s latest exhibition. Across centuries, furniture has connected Long Islanders to each other and the world beyond their shores. Discover the work of the region’s unsung craftspeople: Quaker joiners, Black makers, women upholsterers, Dutch turners, and Indigenous weavers. Bringing together pieces ranging from high-style chests to everyday seating furniture, they will explore a rich cross-section of Long Island society before the Civil War. From the workshop to the home, these objects reveal networks of exchange, identity, and innovation during a time of profound change.
