Steel Magnolias: Dolly Parton Tribute Screening with Costume Contest

Join us for fresh popcorn and lively discourse at Movies at Mechanics', hosted by film curator Lara Gabrielle. Movies at Mechanics’ has welcomed film enthusiasts for classic cinema screenings and salons on Friday evenings for over 20 years. Grab your tissues and your Sunday best - we're heading to Truvy's salon for a screening of the 1989 Southern classic Steel Magnolias. Come dressed as Dolly (big hair and pastel suits encouraged!) for our costume contest. Come early for a sing-a-long! Held in honor of the incomparable Dolly Parton. Join us for fresh popcorn, lively discourse, and classic cinema the first three Fridays of the month. Hosted by Lara Gabrielle, film writer and author of Captain of Her Soul: The Life of Marion Davies. “Author Gabrielle has given us a gift: an honest biography of a woman whose life and career have long been misunderstood. . . . In short, this is the book Marion Davies has always deserved.”-Leonard Maltin, film critic and historian
