Walk the streets of historic Pensacola and uncover the city's most notorious crimes, mysteries, and murder stories. Join Us for a Murder Mystery Walking Tour! Murder Mystery Walking Tour: Pensacola's Most Notorious Killings Six historic stops. Chilling murders, mysterious deaths, and unforgettable stories from Pensacola's past. Step into Pensacola's dark and fascinating past as retired homicide investigator and local historian Michael Earl Simmons guides guests through the streets where some of the city's most shocking crimes and mysteries unfolded. Beginning at Bodacious at 5:00 p.m., this one-hour walking tour takes participants to several historic downtown locations connected to notorious murders, public executions, mysterious deaths, and tales from Pensacola's criminal past. The evening begins at Palafox and Main Streets with the story of the 1884 murder of Peter the Greek, an incident that began at the intersection and ended just a block south. Guests will then walk one block north to the corner of Zarragossa and Palafox Streets, where Michael shares the story of the murder of Mayor Peter Alba. At Zarragossa and Jefferson Streets, you'll hear the story of murderer Wayman King and his hanging in 1900. From there, the tour continues to Jefferson and Government Streets for the mysterious 1769 death of Governor John Eliot. Was it suicide or murder? The next stop is the old county courthouse at Palafox and Government Streets, where Florence McGowan murdered J. Theron Jones in 1914 while court was in session. The evening concludes at Palafox and Zarragossa Streets with a more humorous tale from Pensacola's criminal past: the story of two 1974 prison escapees who were ultimately captured at Plaza Ferdinand. More than a collection of crime stories, this walking tour offers a unique look into Pensacola's past through the people, places, and events that shaped the city.
