Presented by Author Sylvia Shults The Peoria State Hospital, open from 1902 to 1973, is one of the most haunted places in Illinois — but not for the reasons you might think. Rather than being a place of torture, Peoria State Hospital was a place where patients could find safety and refuge from a world that didn’t understand them. Learn about the forward-thinking Dr. George Zeller and his compassionate staff. History blends with the paranormal for a fascinating look at the people of the asylum. Many of those patients are still there on the hilltop, just waiting for a chance to communicate once more. The asylum is a haunted hotspot, investigated by ghost-hunting television shows and regular folks alike. Find out why this little corner of Bartonville is so very haunted.
