An Afternoon with Justin Gonzalez and pianist Patrick Gardner celebrates the music and stories of the Jazz lounge, Broadway stage, and Opera houses of the world. Let Justin and Patrick take you on a journey across genres, decades, and continents using the music and stories Justin has acquired across his 25+ year career as a musician and entertainer. Studio 67 Medford is a beautiful art gallery and performance space located in historic downtown Medford, NJ. It is a BYO venue. Feel free to bring your own beverages (wine and beer) and food (anything from snacks to lunch). This venue is located on the second floor of the historic Feed Mill, accessible via stairs. Doors open to the public at 3pm. The show starts at 3:30pm. There will be an intermission. Join Justin and Patrick for this joyful journey through music and stories on September 27th!! Justin Gonzalez (tenor) knew from a very young age that music would be something extraordinary in his life. Being a poor kid from The City of Brotherly Love, he didn’t know that he had a seat at the table. At 13 years old, Justin was invited to join a chorus as a soloist in Germany and France. In that two weeks, Justin had the opportunity to perform in many castles, mansions, and historic houses of worship. The most memorable moment for him was singing in the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris, France. At that moment, Justin found his place card, along with his seat at the table. After years of laying the groundwork for a promising career as an opera singer, at the age of 18, Justin was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, an autoimmune disease. One of the symptoms of MS is memory loss. His opera career was over just as it began. Sharing stories through music was something that Justin couldn’t just walk away from. Today, 20 years since that first tour, Justin Gonzalez is still a sought-after classical music soloist. He is also a practitioner of the American Song Book and the music of Broadway. Justin uses all of this music to entertain, educate, and share his story. When Justin isn’t singing with the world’s best classical musicians, popular music performers, writing his own music to perform with the Justin Gonzalez Trio, and singing the music of Frank Sinatra and the rock band Queen with Justin Gonzalez and the Jukebox, he is also one of the creators and performers in the Laugh Pack, a comedy variety show. As an educator, Patrick is the full time Director of Instrumental Music Programs at Bishop Eustace Preparatory School in Pennsauken, NJ, along with a number of appointments across Philadelphia. As an accompanist, he works for the Walnut Street Theater playing for auditions and education classes, and frequently plays for St. Paul’s and St. Augustine’s Catholic Churches in Philadelphia. He holds a Bachelors of Arts in Music degree from The Catholic University of America and a Masters of Music in Piano Performance degree from Rowan University where he studied with renowned piano pedagogue and concert artist Veda Zuponcic.
