Appliqué Patches

Create appliqué patches to transform your old clothing into one-of-a-kind outfits! STITCH AND DESTROY are upcycling experts, one of our favorite uses of scrap material are Appliqué Patches! Creating your own patches is one of the easiest and most freeform ways to add uniqueness to a garment! In this workshop, you will get to design and create your own fabric patches using scraps. We’ll teach you how to add stabilizer, turning it into a “fabric sticker” and a few techniques to sew it onto your clothes, including using a zig zag stitch, blanket stitch and free motion embroidery! All materials to create your patch included, all you have to bring is a top from your closet and your patch ideas. We suggest bringing a t-shirt, tank top, button down, or a light jacket with no lining. Please do not bring tight-fitting clothing, sweaters or heavy jackets as they will be difficult to sew. We will be sewing on Singer Brilliance machines. We recommend having some experience with machine sewing. This workshop is open to folks 16+. Space is limited in our studio- we are able to accommodate 6 attendees. Sign up now to secure your spot! Location and Accessibility: This workshop meets in-person for 2.5 hours. STITCH AND DESTROY is located right off of South Street on 4th St in Philadelphia. Our address is 523 S 4th St. Philadelphia, PA 19147. There is limited metered street parking on our block and in this area it can be difficult to find parking. We suggest taking public transportation- Bus 40, 57, 12, 47, 42 and 21 are nearby. The Market-Frankford Line 5th St stop is 7 blocks away. The Broad Street Line Lombard-South stop is 10 blocks away. Please arrive on time so that the workshop can begin at 6:30 PM. We do have a bathroom available to attendees. The studio/workshop space is up 4 steps of stairs, making this workshop not wheelchair accessible. Email [email protected] with any questions. Workshop Policy: Ticket refunds are available through eventbrite 7 days before the workshop. Please request refunds through eventbrite or email [email protected]. Please be mindful that space is limited in our small studio and there is a waitlist. Ticket processing fees are non-refundable. In the case of last-minute cancellations, after the 7-day refund window, due to sickness or unexpected unavailability STITCH AND DESTROY will offer attendee a 'Workshop Credit' equal to the price of the purchased Workshop Ticket [not including Eventbrite processing fee]. This will be in the form of a personalized Coupon Code, which can be applied to any one upcoming workshop we offer within the year. If this circumstance occurs, please email [email protected] ASAP- this credit is only available if we hear from you prior to workshop's commencement. In the event that STITCH AND DESTROY cancels this workshop, an alternate date will be chosen and ticket refunds will be available to all that are unable to attend the alternate date.
