Full description from organizerShow less
An afternoon of delightful tunes for soprano, guitar, flute, and strings by fashionable Italian composers from Handel's London From Handel's day to the Regency, London audiences couldn't get enough of Italian music, and Italian musicians flocked there to supply it: opera arias, pleasure-garden songs, and lessons for the popular guitar. With soprano, flute, violin, viola da gamba, and guitar, this program brings together music by Tommaso Giordani and his compatriots, whose melodies became the sound of a fashionable city.
