Kirtan with Adam Bauer and Angela Hassan

Song Keepers is thrilled to present an evening of devotional music and community connection with beloved kirtan artists Adam Bauer and Angela Hassan! Adam Bauer spent years playing bass alongside kirtan pioneer Krishna Das and studying devotional music under the revered Shyamdas, and has spent more than a decade leading kirtan and sacred chant programs on three continents. This gathering arrives just a week after the October 8th release of his fourth solo album, Life + Death — by his own account among the most personal records he's made. Written and recorded between 2023 and 2025 across India and the U.S., the album includes songs born on a retreat in South India alongside a closing track that came to him in a dream, written in the weeks after he sat bedside with a close friend nearing the end of his life. Expect to hear some of this new material woven into the evening. Angela Hassan is a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist on guitar, zither, and harmonium, whose sound blends an angelic voice with transcendent music to soften the heart and invite deep connection. With more than a decade of experience and certifications in yoga, meditation, and energy healing, her offerings gently guide people back to their breath, their heart, and the present moment. Her music has carried her across the globe, from the United States and Europe to India and Africa, as well as into communities not always given space for this kind of gathering, including youth, seniors, people in recovery, and incarcerated individuals. Both Adam and Angela bring a rare depth of devotion and musicianship to their craft. To have both of them joining our community for this evening is a gift beyond words. Kirtan is an ancient practice of call-and-response chanting, often described as a "jewel of spiritual practice" because of its ability to open the heart and bring people together through shared voice and intention. Beyond public gatherings, Song Keepers offers healing music and compassionate presence in life's most tender transitions, particularly for those approaching death and the loved ones who walk beside them. We also bring this work to those often overlooked or underserved, including people in prisons and medical facilities.
