OPENING RECEPTION: Former NBA Player Now Renowned Painter Neil A. Edwards

MEET THE ARTIST! Join Morton Contemporary and former NBA player turned painter Neil Anthony Edwards to celebrate his latest collection! Neil Anthony Edwards returns to Philadelphia for his second solo exhibition at Morton Contemporary Gallery: EVANESCENCE: WE ARE ALL STILL FADING. Join us to celebrate the opening his new collection and meet the artist. Edwards’ sold-out 2025 show, WE ARE ALL FADING, focused on a single era. This year, the artist widens the lens, moving from the 1910s through the Roaring Twenties to the 1960s, while closing with two larger-than-life icons: Philadelphia’s own Rocky Balboa and LeBron James. In this series, each decade speaks to the next. The tailored elegance of the 1910s, the daring glamour of the 1920s, and the cool confidence of the 1960s -- all hang side by side, showing how every generation borrows from the last, reinvents it, and leaves its own mark. Fashion remains Edwards’ language, and here it reads less like a snapshot and more like a family album for an entire culture. Moving from the 1960s, the series steps out of the past and into the present. Rocky, the underdog who made the Art Museum steps famous, brings the exhibition home. LeBron James is the present-day bookend, painted by an artist who knows firsthand what it takes to compete at the highest level. Together these two astonishing paintings make the case that legacy isn’t only handed down - it’s earned, round by round, season by season. Join us for the opening reception and meet the artist on Saturday, November 14th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Morton Contemporary gallery, 115 S. 13th Street, Philadelphia PA, 19107.
