Spring Concert: Philadelphia Poets

In this final concert of the season, Singing City employs vocal music as a tool to amplify the powerful words of some of Philadelphia’s most celebrated poets: Katherine Chapin, Walt Whitman, Frances Ellen Watkins Harper, and Sonia Sanchez. These writers offer inspiring words that shape our understanding of identity, justice, resilience, community and our shared humanity. Selections include Joan Szymko’s We Are All Bound Up Together, William Grant Still’s Plain-Chant for America, and excerpts from Ralph Vaughn Williams’ Dona nobis pacem. Accessibility Information: Philadelphia Episcopal Cathedral is located at the intersection of S 38th Street and Ludlow Street in West Philadelphia. There is an accessible entrance to the right of the main entrance at 23 S 38th Street and accessible seating available in the concert space.
