Building Block Series - Building Block Four - Simple Decreases

Next in the series we will be focusing on learning simple decreases! This FOURTH class will be focusing on knitting SIMPLE DECREASES! A decrease is made when two stitches are worked together, resulting in one new stitch. Left and right leaning decreases are essential to garment shaping and lace knitting. Want to take your knitting to the next level? Our Building Blocks series is the perfect way to learn some more knitting techniques that build upon your beginner skills. Students should be familiar with how to cast on, the knit stitch, and purl stitch. (We recommend taking our Beginner Knitting Workshop beforehand if you need the basics!) Other than that, bring your excitement to learn and our expert instructor, Jen, will give you the tools you need to knit with confidence! Each workshop will cover a new technique which students will practice by making an approximately 12” x 12” square. Our Building Block series workshops are all available individually, so you can pick and choose which skills you want to practice or join us for all 12 and make an afghan with your blocks! Materials: • Building Blocks by Michelle Hunter *not included in class price, must purchase book to participate* • Worsted Weight or Bulky Weight yarn of your choice • Bring your own knitting needles - we recommend the size listed on your yarn ball band If you need help picking out materials, stop by the Craft Room prior to your class and we will be happy to assist! Homework: Please cast on and knit the first 6 rows of the bottom border before class.
