Ladderback Jacquard Colorwork Workshop

Join us for learning Ladderback Jacquard colorwork knitting! We will be making the Linocut Hat by Ysolda Teague! Join us for a Ladderback Jacquard Colorwork Hat Workshop on Tuesday, October 20th, from 6pm - 9pm at the Moon & Yarn Craft Room! This class is an intro class to Ladderback Jacquard colorwork. We will be making the Linocut Hat by Ysolda Teague! Our expert instructor, Jen, will guide you step by step! "Ladderback jacquard is a technique commonly used in machine knitting, that can also be adapted for hand knitting. It’s a way to handle longer floats of non-working yarn across the back of the work that avoids catching the float with the working yarn, which can sometimes show through on the right side. The strands of non-working yarn are connected with vertical columns of stitches, or ladders, which create a sort of web that floats behind the work. A single “ladder” can be used to create a bridge between stitches in stranded colourwork, or many can be used to effectively work intarsia in the round. The example in this tutorial is for the former but the techniques are the same." Students must provide their own materials. We will send out a material list beforehand. This hat is made using DK Weight yarn. Students will be expected to cast on and finish the ribbing in the pattern before class. The pattern is included in the price of the class. We will email you the pattern and material list once you sign up! Students must know to do the Long Tail Cast On, knit, purl, cast off, and feel comfortable working in the round.
