Intro to Crochet

Start your crochet journey by creating your own wearable art. In this class for beginners, you will learn foundations of crochet including tension and hand positioning, base chain stitches, building on stitches, all working towards making a square. After learning the basics we’ll get started on a project, making a small bag if time allows. You’ll leave with the skills needed to make everything from earrings, coasters, and pillows, to hats and scarves, tops and pants, bags and plant hangers, and many more. About the instructor: Cali Ellis is an artist, farmer, and yogi. She’s been practicing various art forms since she was a kid, and since 2019 has been dedicated to learning and experimenting with crochet and textile arts. Cali went to college for Sustainable Food and Farming and works in various gardens on the coast of Maine. She loves combining her passions for plants and fiber arts and has worked on various natural weaving projects. Through her exploration of the arts, she is most excited to share the skills she’s learned with others.
