Harvest Moon Shag

Come learn some exciting variations of moves, fun footwork styling, and find out what makes collegiate shag so much fun! We are over the moon to be hosting a collegiate shag workshop and Any Swing Goes social dance in October! Local teachers Molly McCarthy and Mitchell Daniels will be bringing you four hours of teaching at this fun collegiate shag workshop. These two dynamic dancers love to dance shag and have a wealth of knowledge and experience that they want to bring to Portland's swing dance scene. Molly and Mitchell will be kicking off hour one with a beginner friendly class that will teach the basic footwork as well as discuss the rhythm, styling, and pulse that makes this shuffle dance feel so easy-going. The remaining three hours will dive into specific moves in side-by-side, open, and closed position. The workshop will help dancers explore moves and transitions as well as encourage playfulness, creativity, and musicality on the dance floor. Come learn some exciting variations of familiar moves and find out what makes collegiate shag so much fun! Can't make it for the entire workshop? Have no fear! We will be offering a tiered pricing system that will allow you to purchase a pass for the entire day or pick which classes you'd like to attend. There will also be a pricing option to combine your workshop pass with the cover fee for the social dance.
