Skills Ahoy!

Set sail for a morning of practical skill-building, connection, and fun! Skills Ahoy! is a small-group workshop designed for kids ages 9–12 Skills Ahoy! Skills Ahoy! is a small-group workshop designed for kids ages 9–12 who could benefit from extra practice with executive functioning, planning, flexible thinking, problem-solving, and social skills. Led by Shelby Fontaine, LICSW, the workshop uses engaging, hands-on activities rather than a classroom-style format. Kids will work together, practice real-life skills, and leave with tools they can continue using at home and school. During the workshop, participants will: • Learn a Now / Next / Later / Done system for organizing tasks and expectations • Create a personalized Captain’s Log planner • Complete a Team Treasure Hunt focused on planning, flexible thinking, and problem-solving • Practice planning and budgeting by helping plan and shop for lunch • Build conversation and friendship skills during a relaxed crew lunch • Create an anchor keychain with a personal calm mantra • Have access to sensory-friendly breaks whenever needed This is a neurodivergent-affirming, supportive small-group environment designed to meet kids where they are while giving them meaningful opportunities to practice skills in a natural setting. Who: Ages 9–12 Group size: Minimum 4 participants; maximum 6 participants Sibling discount: $10 off registration for a second sibling Included: Lunch and all workshop materials Current Harborside clients and non-clients are welcome. This is a self-pay educational skills workshop. A nut-free lunch will be provided. Allergy, dietary, and sensory information will be collected during registration. Registration packet must be completed by Thursday, October 8.
